  24.  I am just setting up a Thinkpad 365xd with OS/2 Warp 4 and had hoped to
  25. use  the Kermit/2 XSend command to just dump all the stuff I need from
  26. my desktop machine onto the laptop using a null modem cable. Somehow it
  27. doesn't work, the two machines don't see each other, it seems.
  28. I have disabled the IR port on the TP, set the serial port to com2.
  29. On the desktop I have the serial port on com1. The null modem cable is
  30. 9 pin, with the following pin layout:

  35.     2        3
  36.     3        2
  37.     4       6 and 1
  38.     5        5
  39.     6        4
  40.     7        8
  41.     8        7
  42.     9        n/c

  44. yet nothing goes. I tried, following the Kermit/2 book, to set

  46.  set carrier-watch off
  47.  set line com2 (or com1 on the desktop)
  48.  set speed 115200

  50. and then set the receiving laptop kermit into 'server' mode, where it
  51. sits waiting. However, no matter what I do from the sending kermit, it
  52. doesn't seem to communicate.

  54. I also used the mode command to set the com port parameters to
  55.  
  56. baud     = 115200                 parity   = NONE
  57. databits = 7                      stopbits = 1
  58. TO       = OFF                    XON      = OFF
  59. IDSR     = OFF                    ODSR     = OFF
  60. OCTS     = OFF                    DTR      = OFF
  61. RTS      = OFF                    BUFFER   = ON
  62.  
  63. on both machines (I tried 8 data bits as well), nothing. I am running
  64. out of ideas; does anybody have some? I am surely not the first one to
  65. try that, so I'd appreciate any help!
